What Is the HIMS Program?
The Human Intervention Motivation Study (HIMS) program is an FAA-sponsored, industry-supported initiative designed to identify, treat, and safely return pilots with substance-related conditions to the cockpit.
It is a structured system of evaluation, treatment, and long-term monitoring that requires coordination between the pilot, employer, treatment providers, and a specially trained HIMS Aviation Medical Examiner (HIMS AME).
As a certified HIMS AME, I guide airmen through every step of the pathway back to medical certification with an approach that is compassionate and compliant with FAA requirements.
