Consultations
Aviate Medical offers personalized consulting for pilots, aircrew, and aviation professionals who have questions about their medical certification, overall health, or how a medical condition may affect their ability to fly.
Consultations are provided by Dr. Rachael Ferraro, Senior HIMS FAA Aviation Medical Examiner (AME), who is also board-certified in Internal Medicine and Obesity Medicine. Her combined experience in aviation medicine, adult medicine, and wellness allows her to help pilots better understand both the medical and certification sides of their concerns.
Watch the video below for a more in-depth look at what to expect during your visit.
To make the most of your appointment, please bring any supporting medical records, test results, medication lists, specialist notes, or other relevant documentation with you. You may also fax or email these records to Aviate Medical in advance so Dr. Ferraro can review them before your consultation.
Get StartedIf you have received a letter from the FAA, please provide a copy prior to your appointment whenever possible. Reviewing the FAA letter in advance can help guide the consultation and allow the discussion to focus on the specific information, testing, or documentation being requested. If your consultation involves VA disability ratings, please also provide your VA rating decision letter and any relevant supporting documentation before the appointment.
Providing these materials ahead of time allows for a more focused and productive consultation and can help clarify your next steps.
Please note: A consulting appointment is separate from an FAA medical examination and does not guarantee certification, a specific VA rating, or FAA approval. Final determinations remain with the appropriate agency.
